| Man is a social animal and socialization happens through communication. Thereby the social dimension and responsibility of communicators and media are highlighted by all communication studies. The Vatican II document on communication Inter Mirifica has chosen to describe communication as social communication.
Media plays a vital role in social change, political and economic choices and decision making, in promoting peace, justice, harmony. Globalization, neo-colonialism, gender and cultural issues, ecological concerns are all important dimensions of communication studies.
Communication technologies have flattened the space and shortened the time, but have they brought the people of the global village closer in hearts. Good communication promotes peace, harmony and friendship.
