We are living in a period of tremendous change in the technology of communication. From cave paintings to digital communication, man has gone a long way in making ever better tool for expressing himself. However, the technological changes are only part of what is happening. The new technologies have produced a culture with “new ways of communicating, with new languages, new techniques and a new psychology”. (Redemptoris Missio, 37c; Aetatis Novae 11). The predominant media of each period had a decisive influence of the human life and action in that period. While every medium of communication is an extension and amplification of the human senses, it is all the more the materialization of the human spirit.
