- Church has always used the best available means to communicate the Good News. Jesus, the Apostles and early Christian leaders and teachers were excellent oral communicators. The early church signs and symbols, art and architecture, music and manuscripts to best of her advantage. Church was the pioneer in printing and radio. However, Church is lagging behind in audiovisual (TV, film) and digital (internet, multimedia) communication. Solution is not starting new TV channels or websites … but to appropriate the language, logic and culture of digital communication.
- The present communication culture impels the Church to reform and reformulate the communication structures, styles and culture for effective pastoral and evangelizing mission in the 21st century.
- Any major change in the Church needs a theology. We need a communication theology to make the church more communicative today.
